Protocol Error: Check phone lines, baud rate, blind dial, pre-dial, and retry the transaction.
Modem Error 2: Possible hardware failure; try to power cycle the terminal and check the phone line. If you call customer care for help, they will troubleshoot communication issues. If needed, they can order a replacement terminal.
Modem Error 4: Usually indicates phone line issue. Check the phone line and then try to Power cycle the terminal.
Modem Error 22: Check to ensure the phone line is present and connected to the Line port.
Host Code 58: Confirm that you accept the card brand. Power cycle the terminal and then retry the transaction. If needed, call customer care. They will troubleshoot and help you update the application.
Authentication Failed: Power cycle the terminal and then retry the transaction. If you call customer care for help, they will troubleshoot the issue. If needed, they can order a replacement terminal.
Partial Card Read: The card swipe failed. The card might be damaged, or the card reader dirty. Clean the card reader and try the transaction again. If needed, call customer care for help. They will troubleshoot the issue, and they can order a replacement terminal.
PinPad Error 4: Connect the PIN Pad to the 232B port. Power cycle the terminal and then retry the transaction.
Host Code 55: Incorrect PIN. Re-enter the PIN.
XLATE Error: Xlate error is a translation error. Verify the terminal’s date and time. If incorrect, call customer care for help. If the date is correct, try to settle the batch. If unable to settle the batch verify you have the receipts and call customer care for help. They will determine if they need to delete the batch and ask you to offline the transactions.
Xlate Error 20016: This error should be a rare occurrence. If you see it often, try plugging the terminal directly into an outlet. Remove the power strip, if used. Move the terminal away from anything that causes interference such as an alarm system or neon signs. If the error occurs again, call customer care, and they will help you update the application.
