Overview
This article describes how to configure a Heartland Retail site to sell items individually and as predefined case packs.
Please note that you must run Heartland Retail v2, version 2.11 or higher, to use this feature.
Configuring Case Pack for a Product
Creating a Case-Pack Product
Follow the steps below to configure a product for case pack sales.
- From the Dashboard menu, go to Inventory and select Products.

- Select +New.

- The POS will prompt you to select Simple product or Gridded product. Select Simple product.

- Enter data as is appropriate for the product and select Save.


- Scroll down to the Packs section and toggle Use Packs to Yes.


- Select Create a new pack to begin adding packs.

By default, the POS will generate a 2-pack of the selected item, and will use the default cost and price values for a single item. Edit the pack name, quantity, cost, and prices as desired. Once you have created all packs, select Save.
Case-Pack Product Vendor Info
You can assign unique vendors to a product and to each of its defined case packs. To do so, follow these steps:
- Go to the Vendors section of the product and select Add Vendor.

- Select desired vendor and then make changes to the associated case packs as needed.

- Select Save.
Generating Barcodes for a Case-Pack Product
To generate barcode labels for a case-pack product, do the following:
- From the product page, select Print Labels.

- At the quantity prompt, select desired parameters. Here, we opt to print based on the quantity on hand using a 1.5” x 1.0” thermal label.

- Select Generate PDF and wait for the PDF to display.

- Once displayed, you can share and print it as desired.

Duplicating a Case-Pack Product
To duplicate a case-pack product, from the product detail page, select Duplicate.
This will create an exact duplicate of the item.
Selling a Case-Pack Product
To sell a case pack product, follow the steps below:
- Create a new order and locate the product either by scanning or searching.

- Once you have selected the item, you can choose to sell it as a single item, or as one of the predefined case packs.

- Proceed with the sale as normal.
Inventory Tracking
- Case packs sold are recorded in inventory and reports as the quantity of items, not by the number of case packs sold.
- When receiving inventory by case, inventory counts will be adjusted based on the quantity of items in the case.
